Permission to Pause
With Jurema Silva
When was the last time you stopped long enough to ask yourself what you need?
Not what your children need.
Not what your partner needs.
Not what your parents, grandchildren, friends, coworkers, or clients need.
What do you need?
Many of us have become experts at taking care of everyone except ourselves.
We answer every phone call, respond to every message, solve problems, care for family and friends, and keep saying yes. Somewhere along the way, we lose ourselves.
Stress, exhaustion, feeling drained, and even physical symptoms can be signs that something inside us is asking for attention.
This is where Permission to Pause begins.
But pausing isn’t simply taking a few minutes to meditate or distracting your mind so you can return to the same overwhelming life.
The deeper pause is the moment when you stop the automatic response and ask yourself:
Do I really want to do this?
Do I have the energy for this?
Am I saying yes because I want to—or because I feel guilty saying no?
When was the last time I considered myself?
Sometimes even “maybe” becomes a way of avoiding the word no.
We may fear disappointing someone or being seen as selfish. But what if taking care of yourself isn’t selfish?
What if it is self-respect?
Loving yourself means recognizing that your well-being matters too.
That doesn’t mean you stop caring about others. It means you stop abandoning yourself in order to care for them.
Think about the instruction we hear on an airplane during an emergency: put your own oxygen mask on first, and then help the person beside you.
You cannot help someone else if you cannot breathe.
Permission to Pause is an invitation to slow down—not to escape your life, but to become more conscious of the life you are choosing.
Together, we will explore overgiving, the difficulty of saying no, guilt, external validation, self-worth, self-love, and the courage to choose yourself without guilt.
Because sometimes the most courageous thing you can do is pause.
Not to quit.
Not to give up.
Not because you are lazy.
But because you matter, too.
Join Jurema for an intimate and transformational two-hour experience.
You don’t need another way to do more.
You may simply need permission to pause.
